Welcome to St. Peter Chanel Parish Primary school located in Deer Park, 20km to the west of Melbourne. Our school was established in 1955 and is one of cultural diversity, and acceptance and inclusiveness.
St Peter Chanel Primary School is committed to the safety, wellbeing and inclusion of all children.
“At St. Peter Chanel School our vision is to help students develop a personal relationship with God while being engaged in a rich learning environment.
We aim to nurture a community which encourages participation, inclusion, a sense of belonging and a desire to learn.
We strive to enhance learning through good practice and critical evaluation of ever-changing curricula.
We want all members of the community to experience justice, affirmation, support, respect and a love of learning.”
The Parish of Deer Park was formed in 1954 under the guidance of the Marist Fathers who named the Parish after St. Peter Chanel, one of their missionaries who had been canonised by Pope Pius XII in the same year as their arrival in Deer Park.
The following year saw the establishment of St. Peter Chanel School to cater for the rapidly growing Catholic community of Deer Park. The school has continued to grow and today has an enrolment of over 500 children. St. Peter Chanel School has and continues to be viewed in high regard, providing a strong sense of community and a commitment to the provision of personalised learning, aimed at allowing children to reach their full potential.
There has been an ongoing program of refurbishment and development allowing St. Peter Chanel to provide a learning environment which encourages children to seek and explore. The school is equipped with the latest in learning technologies providing children with the opportunity to actively engage with other learners beyond the walls of their classroom.
Our school motto “Love One Another” is lived out through our mission in reaching out in service to all.
